Works great for something like chicken noodle soup. Instead of using a skimmer to remove the floating oil from the pot and then switching to a ladle to serve, this ladle can skim and serve at the same time. Fill the ladle with soup and pour SLOWLY into the serving bowl. The key is to do it slowly to keep the oil in the larger side of the ladle, allowing the filtered soup into the bowl. Then, discard the oil from the ladle. The ladle “filters” the oil using a simple piece of stainless steel angled in a way that will hold back the oil that floats at the top of the soup. There’s no mesh or anything doing the filtering.
