I purchased this support as part of several measures I am using to deal with the sudden onset of severe right side arthritic hip pain, not actually in the groin but on the side of the hip and front upper thigh. I use it while walking as extra support for the sore muscles in the area. It has helped to reduce the pain from walking. Also if the pain worsens in other settings, the compression of the thigh portion of the support helps to reduce the pain. I also do stretching and strength building exercises, cold packs, and Tylenol. Some particular benefits of this support is that it is quick and easy to put on, can be used for either the left or right side, and fits comfortably under my usual clothing. Not all such supports are so flexible. I am a 71 YO physician who does not like surgery and who will not use opiate pain drugs.
